What is Web Summit?
Web Summit is an annual technology conference held in Lisbon in 2019 and is considered the largest technological event in the world. Founded in 2009 by Paddy Cosgrave, David Kelly, and Daire Hickey, Web Summit was originally held in Dublin, Ireland, until 2016, when it permanently moved to Lisbon, Portugal.
What's going on at Web Summit?
As part of the event, the founders and CEOs of the world's top companies, along with the most influential strategic partners in Silicon Valley and beyond, are meeting with researchers and innovators of tomorrow. The focus of the conference is on Internet technology, technologies that are still in the project stage and untested invention, with bigger risks.
Speakers include CEOs, experts in different fields, celebrities and politicians, such as Elon Musk, Katherine Maher, Guo Ping. This year, even Edward Snowden, the famous former NSA analyst, will be invited. Web Summit partners range from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, participants representing all levels and sectors of the global technology industry.
One of the top participants at the Web Summit is giant Huawei, the multinational technology company, the world's second-largest smartphone maker.
They organize HUAWEI Developer Day on November 5, 2019, at Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. During those 4 days, HUAWEI guests have the chance to explore the business opportunities offered by top experts and technical partners, to understand the HUAWEI Mobile Services (HMS) ecosystem, to support mobile phone developers, giving them a smart way to develop, efficient growth and monetization of applications.
What news/information can we find after the Web Summit?
With a huge openness in the internet and technology market, this summit gives to start-ups the chance to expand by building relationships, partnerships, mergers or even direct investments. Thanks to the Summit, even companies from Forbes 500 can also benefit by strengthening current relationships, creating new ones, developing IT, buying ideas, patents, etc.
Except for this huge opening opportunity, participating companies have access to new information in the high tech area, information that until then was kept behind closed doors or was only superficially detailed in the press.
Integrating business ideas, marketing strategies are topics that can help smaller companies, such as Virtual Cards, expand into the international and local markets.
What happened in 2018?
With nearly 70,000 participants from over 150 countries, over 1,000 speakers, and over 1,500 promising start-ups, Fortune 500 companies, Web Summit has become the largest technology conference in the world, according to Forbes.
In the year 2018 at the Web Summit, different topics were deepened, each having its degree of impact. From breaching digital intimacy to marketing tips, from how Apple manages to stay away from financial problems or to how Cupertino giant remains stable all over the years.
What is our forecast for this year's summit compared to 2018?
This year we expect this event to be even bigger, to have more personalities present, and the degree of interest in technological problems that users are facing daily will be even higher.
This year we are proud to announce that VirtualCards will be part of this big event. We will be a small part, dynamic and with personality, in this huge universe of information and technology.
At this Summit we present the project to the other participants, thus having the opportunity to attract potential strategic partners or foreign partners, to exchange experience and impressions.
VirtualCards will enter a new stage to become an international application. Our goal is to expand into new markets and develop a long-term partnership, relationships around the world.
We are looking for a strategic partner for the next development phase. We are looking for a strategic partner to help us both on the financing side, as well as in the escalation of the business - know-how or business relations abroad.
For attracting international partners, we are developing a platform dedicated to exclusive online sales packages. We are about to develop the electronic payment by the application at the cash register as the virtual wallet will be in the future in the centre of purchases in stores. We have also plans in the area of gift cards, giving our partners the opportunity to expand loyalty programs by creating and managing digital gift cards.
At this moment we focus on providing advanced loyalty solutions for our partners, and we provide users with a trusted application whose customer service is the best in the industry.
We expect a new, unique experience that will help us in meeting business objectives and achieve plans. We are looking forward to this event and have high expectations for it.
We are convinced that we will leave there much „richer” in terms of information, but also with energy, determination, and new ideas. This presence is an extraordinary opportunity to make our application known to all participants.
We are also waiting for you in Lisbon and, remember, with each edition, "there is still room for important questions", so let's find out together what the future holds for us!
